What our credentials mean for you
Tax credentials can be confusing. Here's exactly what each one means, in plain language.
- PTIN
Preparer Tax Identification Number
The IRS requires every paid tax preparer to hold a PTIN and renew it each year. It's how the IRS identifies who prepared your return.
- EFIN
Authorized IRS e-file Provider
To e-file returns, a firm applies to the IRS and passes a suitability check. Your return goes to the IRS electronically, which is faster and more accurate than paper.
- AFSP
Annual Filing Season Program — Record of Completion
A voluntary IRS program that requires continuing education every year, including a federal tax law refresher. Sam completes it annually, which also allows limited representation before the IRS on returns we prepare.
AFSP participants are listed in the IRS's public Directory of Federal Tax Return Preparers. Venus Tax Solution is an independent firm and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IRS.
